Project Title: Academic Integrity Poster Project

A class collaboration with students in different classes, but within same department at Lamar University.

Designers: Cori Spencer |Courtney Clark | Stephanie Messina | Alexis Moore

Client: Lamar University, Academic Integrity Conference with Keynote Speaker: James M. Lang

Creative Team: Graphic design faculty members Sherry Freyermuth and Kurt Dyrhaug were tasked with coming up with how the students in graphic design would create these posters. The solution developed in order to involve as many students as possible. Freyermuth was teaching a small group of six advanced students, while Dyrhaug had a larger group of eighteen introductory graphic design students.

Designers: John Nguyen | James Lang | Erika Leggett | Kendall Wilkerson

Description: In this project, students from two different graphic design courses worked together to create a series of posters related to the theme academic integrity. This project first started as a collaboration with the Department of Art and administrators at Lamar University. The goal was to raise awareness about academic integrity and poster designs were to be a major component in this project. As it developed, the project evolved into a one day symposium featuring a keynote speaker, James M. Lang.

Duration: 2014

Designers: Jonathan Smith | Kaitlyn Hinch | Jensyn Hanley | GiGi Barker

Process: The final solution was to allow the advanced students to lead a small group of three to four intro students. Each team was tasked with creating a series of posters relating to four major topics in academic integrity: originality, personal integrity, the value of learning, and scholarship. Through this process the advanced students gained valuable leadership skills and the intro students were able to learn from their advanced peers through lessons about branding, technical demonstrations, and small group critiques.

Designers: Lois Essel | Ben Lane | Amanda Toups | Brian Buckalew

Outcome: Each group of posters was featured at the symposium event and the audience voted for two designs to be printed and disseminated across campus. Overall, the community on campus has given positive feedback about these poster designs, and other institutions have requested to reprint them for distribution on their own campuses.
